It was a hard-fought first half with both teams battling for possession and the elusive first goal. UK Royals got on the board first on a brilliant header off of a corner kick. The Royals would go up 2-0 following a PK by Miodrag Djersilio - but WAIT! Referee Jafaar Rasul said, "Not so fast!" Djersilio violated FIFA rules by stopping mid-kick to make Tavio Palazzolo dive the wrong way. The result was an indirect kick for Celtic and the score was 1-0 at halftime.
The second half was a back and forth event. Celtic got on the board when Colin Miranda fired home a shot from in close. Celtic took the 2-1 lead following one of the best buildups in Celtic history. The ball never left the pitch as it progressed up the left side. Oltesvig carried it forward to Miranda who dumped it to Martin for the goal.
Djersilio would make it 2-2, scoring directly from the corner. It was not only helped along by the wind - but Mickey took the kick from well outside of the corner arc. The result was a curling nightmare for Palazzolo and Meyn 57 just couldn't jump high enough on the back post to send it out.
As time was winding down it looked like the game would end 2-2. Palazzolo had made several saves to keep the score level when the ball squirted down the right side. Okerstrom found himself all alone with the ball and sent a long cross into the box. Mark Wolka was somehow on the receiving end of the cross as the wind played a major factor for the Royals keeper. Wolka got there first and the keeper knew it. Instead of playing the ball, the bushy haired goalkeeper played Wolka's head/face. Rasul did not hesitate to call the foul and award Celtic with the PK.
Okerstrom fired the PK home against the howling wind and to the keeper's right. 3-2 Celtic!
As the game ended, Alfred Martini was overheard telling Okerstrom that Celtic played a very smart game and congratulated the captain on the win.
Jason Martin earned his second match MVP in a row.
Rich Oltesvig was honorable mention.
